The Manarat Al Saadiyat is gearing up to present the world premiere of RSTW (Rauschenberg, Ruscha, Serra, Twombly, Warhol and Wool), in Abu Dhabi later this month.
The Tourism Development & Investment Company (TDIC) has invited one of the world’s preeminent art dealers, New Yorker Larry Gagosian, to showcase a collection of masterpieces from his private collection.
“Larry has chosen Abu Dhabi as the first place to exhibit his never-before-seen private collection, said Rita Aoun Abdo, Director of Cultural Department, TDIC.
“This exhibition is a result of a “tri-alogue” between TDIC’s cultural department, the collector, Larry Gagosian and the curator, Anne Baldassari, which created the RSTW idea as a raw experience in this new emerging contemporary scene of Abu Dhabi.”

A total of 72 works of art will be on display during the show, which will feature a range of works from Rauschenberg, Ruscha, Serra, Twombly, Warhol and Wool. Anne Baldassari, the President of the Fondation Picasso, and the exhibition’s curator, selected the works to offer visitors a slice of art history through an arrangement of forms and techniques.
“From one end, people will see the works of epoch-defining artists who stand for the authority of western cultural production, and are some of the most influential names in contemporary art,” said Aoun Abdo.
“From the other end, these masterpieces which include paintings, installations, drawings, and photography have never before been exhibited together.”

It’s hoped this exhibition will further promote Manarat Al Saadiyat as a platform for an experiential exploration of art and culture.
“The creation of this show marks another key moment in the development of Abu Dhabi’s cultural ambitions,” said HE Sheikh Sultan bin Tahnoon Al Nahyan, Chairman of TDIC.
“Exhibiting for the first time the private collection of Larry Gagosian is another way to reemphasize the dedication of Abu Dhabi to offer our audiences new experiences.”
