Netball fanatics across the capital are starting to get excited as the new season approaches and the Abu Dhabi Netball League gears up for another successful campaign.

Netball is the world’s most popular team sport for women, played by over seven million people in more than 70 countries around the globe and Abu Dhabi, along with the gulf region in general, has a thriving netball community that is increasing all the time.
Each year GCC countries choose teams to represent them at the Intergulf Championship, widely regarded as the premier netball event in the region. First held in 1986, the tournament is held in a different gulf country each year and includes over 200 of the top players from countries such as Oman, Bahrain, UAE, Kuwait, Qatar and Saudi Arabia.
Over the last few years, the Abu Dhabi Intergulf team have established themselves as the dominant force in the gulf, winning the championship for the last two years in succession.
This is due in no small part to the growing popularity of netball in the capital and the hard work of the Abu Dhabi Netball league.
The Abu Dhabi Netball League play games every Tuesday evening between 7-10pm on the tennis courts at the Intercontinental Hotel starting from 14th September. Ladies from 16+ of any skill level are more than welcome and you can sign up as a team or an individual for any of the social or competitive leagues that are available.
The league is split into three divisions with 24 teams starting in September and running until April or May depending on fixtures. Teams are ranked at the beginning of the season in a ranking tournament to ensure they are fairly graded.
