Al Jazira got their 2010-11 campaign off to an impressive start on Friday night as they cruised to a 3-0 win against Al Nasr at the Mohammed Bin Zayed Stadium.

More than 7,000 spectators looked on as Jazira started strongly with Khaled Sabeel giving the home team the lead after 32 minutes. The ‘Black Spiders’ continued to dominate in the second half and they doubled their lead in the 75th minute through Abdulla Moosa before Ahmed Jumaa sealed the victory in injury time.
Elsewhere in the capital, Al Ain came from behind in a seven-goal thriller to beat newly promoted Dubai Club 4-3 at home.
Dubai took a shock lead after 15 minutes through their French striker Michael N’dri before last season’s top scorer Jose Sand equalised for Al Ain on the half hour mark. Omar Abdulrahman added a second just five minutes later and Sand doubled his tally on the stroke of half-time to make it 3-1 to Al Ain. N’dri gave Dubai hope as he scored again in the 51st minute but Abdul Aziz Faiz put the result beyond doubt as he restored Al Ain’s two goal advantage in the 70th minute before Rashid Tiberkanin grabbed a late consolation goal for the plucky visitors.
Bani Yas also got off to a winning start as they battled to a 1-0 victory away from home at Al Shabab. Senegalese striker Andre Senghor grabbed the all-important goal with a header just after the hour mark.
The only sour note of the weekend for the capital’s teams was reigning champions Al Wahda suffering a shock 2-0 defeat at Al Wasl.
