Abu Dhabi trio lead the way

The new UFL season is just two weeks old and already a familiar pattern is beginning to emerge as three of the capital’s four clubs occupy the top spots with 100 percent records.

Free-scoring Al Ain lead the way as they cruised to a 3-0 win away from home against Al Nasr. After a goalless first half, star striker Jose Sand notched a brace to take his tally to four goals in two games before Abdulaziz Fayez added a third to secure the victory.

Bani Yas’ exciting young team continue to impress as they secured their second consecutive win, beating Al Dhafra 2-0. Omani midfielder Fawzi Bashir put in a man-of-the-match performance as he set-up Andre Senghor for the opener after 76 minutes and then grabbed one himself just three minutes before the final whistle.

Al Jazira suffered a scare away to Sharjah as they had to rely on a last minute penalty from Ibrahim Diaky to scrape to a 2-1 victory. Abdulla Mousa had opened the scoring for Jazira before battling Sharjah levelled the score after 57 minutes.

After suffering defeat on the opening day of the season and sacking their coach Lazlo Boloni, reigning champions Al Wahda got back to winning ways with a 3-1 victory over new boys Ittihad Kalba thanks to goals from Fernando Baiano, Modibo Diara and Hamdan Al Kamali.
