Resident Evil: Afterlife 3D

A new dimension of evil

anew

Director: Paul Anderson
Starring: Milla Jovovich, Ali Larter, Wentworth Miller

In a world overrun with the walking dead, Alice (Jovovich) continues her battle against the shady Umbrella Corp, searching for survivors and leading them to safety along the way. Joined by an old friend (Larter), Alice and her group set out for the rumoured safe haven of Los Angeles. But instead of sanctuary, they find the city is overrun by thousands of undead and realise that they have walked straight into a deadly trap.

The fourth instalment of the hugely successful Resident Evil franchise, Afterlife has added a new dimension – literally. The film was actually shot in 3D, unlike many other recent offerings, making the special effects particularly striking and the action works really well.

While the story is bland and unoriginal, the visceral experience of watching our protagonists make mincemeat out of endless zombies has a certain appeal. Basically, it’s more of the same, but if you enjoy this kind of thing, it’s not bad viewing. And, once again, it ends with the promise of yet another sequel.
