The Dubai Culture and Arts Authority has officially launched a series of summer camps across the emirate, aimed at nurturing creativity, curiosity, and cultural awareness among children and youth. Running through July and August, the camps are held at several of Dubai’s leading cultural institutions and are part of the broader Dubai Destinations campaign, led by Brand Dubai.

This year’s programme includes activities at Al Shindagha Museum, Etihad Museum, Dubai Public Libraries, and Al Jalila Cultural Centre for Children. Each camp offers a unique combination of education and recreation, designed to foster hands-on learning and strengthen national identity.

Heritage Meets Innovation

At Al Shindagha Museum, children aged 6 to 12 can join the ‘Archaeology Adventure’ camp from July 14–25. Participants will explore ancient artefacts, practice excavation techniques, and experience UAE heritage through interactive workshops and field visits. Activities include petroglyph studies, metal casting, and a scavenger hunt, all crafted to stimulate analytical thinking and historical appreciation.

Meanwhile, Dubai Public Libraries will host its ‘Heritage and Innovation’ summer camp across eight locations, including new additions at Al Barsha Community Centre and Al Mizhar Majlis. Running in two sessions, the programme caters to ages 4 to 14 and aligns with the Year of Community, combining traditional Emirati customs with future-focused innovation.

Campers will learn about Yowla dance, boat building, and games like Al-Qeheef, alongside robotics, AI-powered storytelling, sustainable fashion, and solar car races. The camp concludes with exhibitions where participants can present their creations to families and peers.

Creative Expression and Cultural Leadership

At Al Jalila Cultural Centre for Children, the ‘A Burst of Imagination’ camp welcomes ages 4 to 13 with sessions from July 7–18 and August 4–15. This immersive art programme introduces abstract painting, clay wheel sculpting, puppetry, music, and photography, offering young artists a platform to express themselves and explore multimedia creativity.

For older students, Etihad Museum offers a distinctive opportunity to become a ‘Certified Cultural Guide’. From August 4–15, participants aged 8 and above will delve into the nation’s founding story and gain practical skills in public speaking and tour guiding. Those who complete the programme receive an official certificate, preparing them to engage audiences with confidence and historical insight.

Promoting Literacy and Community Engagement

In parallel with the camps, Dubai Culture will also host a Second-hand Book Fair, encouraging young readers to explore literature through affordable, pre-loved books. The initiative is part of the Authority’s mission to instill a lasting passion for reading in the next generation.

These summer camps reflect Dubai Culture’s vision of cultivating a generation that is culturally enriched, socially responsible, and creatively empowered—ensuring the city’s rich heritage and innovative spirit are passed on with pride.
