Abu Dhabi Grand Prix powers into town

As the UIM F1H2O World Championship heads into the penultimate Grand Prix of the season, the sixth round of the 2011 season which is set to take place on 8th and 9th December along the Abu Dhabi Corniche will also be the 20th race in the city’s history dating back to 1993

A multitude of drivers have earned World titles during this 18-year period at a site that has become famous for crowning champions and 2011 may develop into the same scenario with Team Abu Dhabi’s Thani Al Qamzi hoping that home advantage will play in his favour.

Although Thani Al Qamzi of Team Abu Dhabi is currently sitting in third position on 55 points, he is only 12 points behind Team Qatar’s leading driver Jay Price and with 20 points on offer for a victory, there is still everything to race for.

Scott Gillman, now team manager for Team Abu Dhabi, won the first of his four titles in Abu Dhabi in 1997 and he is hoping his experience can rub off on Al Qamzi as he looks for his maiden championship.
