With 2010 just around the corner, Abu Dhabi Week took to the capital’s streets to see what people are hoping for from their city – and for themselves! – during the next 12 months ...

Ronnie Sobarano: “I’m going to try and make more time for my family. I’d also like to be able to bring my family over to see me. I’d like to see less traffic congestion in Abu Dhabi and more people making the most of the bus service.”

Marcos Degamon: “I’m going to try and help others more often. I’'m also going to try and quit smoking! ”I’d like more public beaches in Abu Dhabi – the public beach on the Corniche is great now it’s completed – it’d be nice to have a few other spots around Abu Dhabi like it.”

Susan Degamon: “I’d like to change a couple of bad habits – such as biting my nails! I would just like to be happy for the next 12 months, and have plenty of time to see family and friends.”

Noor Hasan: “I’d like to try and aim for better grades in school! “I think pollution is a big problem in Abu Dhabi and would like to see more done to protect the environment.”

Reham Neaimi: “I’d also like to try and get better grades at school. And I’m going to try and help my parents out more around the house! I’d like to see more trees and green spaces in Abu Dhabi – like parks and gardens.”

Nawras Nasser: “Inshallah, I’d like to try and improve my diet and lose a little weight! I’d like to see more affordable accommodation in Abu Dhabi – maybe the rents will drop in 2010!”

Nicholas Armout: I’m going to try and give up smoking for my family – and it’s their New Year’s resolution to try and help me! I'd like to see more done to encourage safe driving in Abu Dhabi.”

Natalie Cloete: “I’ve recently had a baby so I’m going to work hard at getting back in shape. I’m also going to try and have more patience with my husband! I really would like to see some more road safety awareness in Abu Dhabi – the driving attitude is scary.”

Ayham Erecksousi: I’m going to try and not be late anymore – I was bought a watch as a gift – so I have no excuse now! I like Abu Dhabi just the way it is – if it continues as it is in 2010, I’ll be happy.”

Deon Meyer: I’m planning to live a lot healthier in 2010. I’m also going to join a charity group and in general, be happy. For me, the driving has to change in Abu Dhabi – and I probably need to learn to be more patient with other drivers.”
