Türkiye’s global steel leader Tosyalı has reached a major milestone in its international journey, entering the top 50 steel producers worldwide following a significant rise in its production rankings. According to newly released World Steel Association data, Tosyalı produced 9.12 million tons of liquid steel in 2024, surging 21 places in the global rankings to land at 46th place, and achieving a remarkable 54.3% year-on-year production increase.
With nearly 50 production facilities across 3 continents, a 15 million-ton steel production capacity, and a workforce of approximately 15,000 employees, Tosyalı is now Türkiye’s largest steel producer and Europe’s third-largest.
“Our goal is to become one of the world’s top 20 steel producers,”
said Fuat Tosyalı, Chairman of Tosyalı Holding.
Tosyalı attributes its rapid growth to its strategic global investments, commitment to sustainability, and a focus on advanced technology and circular production. The company’s investments in R&D, solar and hydrogen energy, and eco-efficient operations have helped it scale rapidly amid tough global conditions for steel producers.
A cornerstone of this success is the Tosyalı Demir Çelik İskenderun Plant, launched in 2023 despite the challenges of the devastating earthquake in southern Türkiye. The plant has already reduced the country’s flat steel import dependency by 4 million tons and is contributing to value-added exports.
Beyond Türkiye, Tosyalı continues to expand its global footprint. It is progressing with the fourth phase of its five-phase Tosyalı Algérie production complex, one of the largest integrated steel operations in Africa and the Mediterranean. It is also developing new operations in Spain and Libya, strategically positioning itself as a critical industrial player across Europe and North Africa.
“Between 2020 and 2024, we increased our global crude steel production by 110%. Among the top 50 companies, we are the only one to have continuously risen in the rankings every year,” said Tosyalı.
In the past five years alone, Tosyalı has invested over $6 billion, primarily focused on sustainability and efficiency. Its in-house ecosystem spans from raw materials to finished products, allowing the company to innovate independently while maintaining resource efficiency.
This consistent upward momentum sets the stage for Tosyalı’s next major goal: becoming one of the world’s top 20 steel producers within the next four to five years. With current investments soon entering the production phase, the company is poised to continue its steady ascent on the global industrial stage.
