Ooredoo Marks Philippine Day in Oman as Key Sponsor

Telecom provider Ooredoo has joined in celebrations marking the 2025 Philippine Independence Day in Oman, taking centre stage as the official telecommunications sponsor for the event. The occasion, which drew hundreds from the Filipino community and beyond, was held last week in Muscat and served as a vibrant display of national pride and cultural heritage.

The annual event, commemorating the Philippines’ declaration of independence from Spain in 1898, has become a key date on Oman’s multicultural calendar. This year’s edition included traditional music and dance performances, Filipino cuisine, and a colourful showcase of heritage, underscoring the strong presence of the Filipino diaspora in the Gulf state.

Ooredoo, one of Oman’s leading telecommunications companies, hosted an interactive booth at the event, offering attendees a look at its latest mobile and data offers. Representatives from the company also provided demonstrations of digital services and fielded customer queries, while giving away promotional items in a gesture of goodwill.

In a statement, Ooredoo said its sponsorship reflected its long-standing commitment to community engagement and cultural inclusion. “We are honoured to support the Filipino community in Oman as they celebrate such an important day,” said a company spokesperson. “Our participation is about more than sponsorship—it’s about recognising the role this community plays in our society and ensuring they feel seen, valued, and supported.”

The company has been expanding its outreach to various expatriate communities in recent years, in line with Oman’s wider push for greater social cohesion and multicultural integration. The Philippines is one of the largest sources of expatriate labour in the Gulf region, with workers contributing significantly across sectors such as healthcare, retail, construction, and hospitality.

The Philippine Embassy in Muscat welcomed Ooredoo’s involvement, calling it a “powerful gesture of solidarity” and a positive step toward greater corporate engagement with migrant communities. Embassy officials, local dignitaries, and community leaders were in attendance at the celebration, which also featured a flag-raising ceremony and a tribute to overseas Filipino workers.

Ooredoo’s presence at the event underscores the evolving role of private sector organisations in supporting civic life and public celebrations in Oman. The company’s involvement comes as part of a broader strategy to strengthen its community-oriented brand image and enhance customer loyalty through direct engagement.

In addition to product offerings, the telecom giant has recently launched several initiatives focused on digital inclusion, especially targeting underserved populations in remote parts of Oman. Its approach, combining innovation with cultural sensitivity, has earned the brand a favourable reputation among diverse demographic groups.

With a growing focus on customer experience and community relations, Ooredoo’s sponsorship of Philippine Independence Day has been widely seen as a successful blend of cultural diplomacy and corporate outreach—setting a benchmark for future engagement in Oman’s increasingly diverse society.
