NIKE, Inc. announced today the nomination of Jørgen Vig Knudstorp, former CEO of the LEGO Group, for election to its Board of Directors at the company’s upcoming 2025 annual shareholders’ meeting on September 9, 2025.
Knudstorp, known for his transformative leadership at LEGO, served as the toy giant’s President and CEO from 2004 to 2016, then as Executive Chair of LEGO Brand Group until 2023, and currently holds the role of Deputy Chair of the LEGO Foundation. He originally joined LEGO in 2001, holding various strategic and leadership roles before taking the helm during a pivotal turnaround phase.
“Jørgen’s strong global experience with brand and digital marketing, strategy, and consumer products—as well as his development and fostering of culture and values—will make him an excellent addition to our board,” said Mark Parker, Executive Chairman of NIKE, Inc. “We look forward to working with Jørgen during an exciting time for NIKE where we will unlock our next chapter of growth through innovative product and distinctive brand storytelling across an integrated marketplace.”
Before his career at LEGO, Knudstorp worked at McKinsey & Company as a management consultant. He also holds both a master’s degree and a PhD in economics and business management from Aarhus University in Denmark.
In addition to his LEGO legacy, Knudstorp serves as the lead independent director at Starbucks Corporation and is Partner and Executive Advisor at Innovation Endeavors, a venture capital firm focused on early-stage technology investments.
NIKE’s nomination of Knudstorp reflects a continued focus on consumer-centric innovation, digital leadership, and global brand growth—an area in which Knudstorp has proven credentials.
Pending shareholder approval, Knudstorp will contribute his deep expertise in brand strategy and values-led leadership to guide NIKE through its next era of global transformation.
