One of the Middle East’s most iconic aquatic destinations is making waves once again. Miral, the creator behind many of Abu Dhabi’s flagship entertainment projects, has announced the official opening of Yas Waterworld’s largest-ever expansion on July 1, 2025, welcoming visitors to an exciting new realm themed around a “Lost City.”

The newly developed 13,445-square-metre area is a continuation of the park’s original story, The Legend of the Lost Pearl, and features more than 20 new rides, slides, and experiences, raising the total to over 60 water attractions—the most of any waterpark in the region.

A New Chapter: The “Lost City” Uncovered

Designed for guests of all ages, the expansion blends storytelling with adventure, immersing families in an imaginative world of ancient ruins, hidden treasures, and aquatic thrills. Standout additions include:

  • Al Mafras – A twisting desert-themed water slide built for kids, ending in a splashy finale.
  • Red Dunes – A fully enclosed aqua tube slide that delivers high-intensity fun.
  • Al Falaj Race – The region’s first dueling tube raft race, where riders compete side-by-side through sharp turns and steep drops.
  • Al Sahel Junior – The Middle East’s first mini zero-gravity boomerango, tailor-made for younger adventurers.
  • Dawwama Junior – A kid-friendly version of the park’s popular tornado slide.

Guests can also test their nerves on Bahamut’s Rage, a dramatic log flume ride with steep plunges, or twist through the disorienting Mataha Madness and Sadaf Swirl. Meanwhile, Bandit’s Playground and Bandit’s Village offer younger visitors an interactive splash zone full of surprises.

Driving Tourism Through Immersive Innovation

Dr. Mohamed Abdalla Al Zaabi, Group CEO of Miral, emphasised the importance of the expansion for both Yas Island and the emirate’s wider tourism ambitions:

“The expansion of Yas Waterworld represents another bold step in our mission to deliver exceptional, world-leading and joyful experiences on Yas Island,” said Al Zaabi. “These new rides not only transform water-based entertainment in the region but also reflect our ongoing commitment to creating innovative destinations that captivate visitors of all ages.”

Miral’s latest development is part of Abu Dhabi’s broader strategy to boost family-friendly tourism and diversify its economy. Yas Island is already home to Warner Bros. World, Ferrari World, SeaWorld Abu Dhabi, and several world-class hotels and resorts, positioning it as a top-tier global entertainment destination.

A Splash-Ready Summer in Abu Dhabi

With the summer heat rising, Yas Waterworld’s expanded offerings are expected to draw large crowds from within the UAE and across international markets. Whether seeking heart-pounding thrills or family-friendly fun, visitors can now dive into an even richer experience filled with adventure, storytelling, and non-stop aquatic excitement.

For bookings, tickets, and more information, guests are encouraged to visit the official Yas Waterworld website.
