The mountain town of Hatta is transforming into a hub for outdoor adventure and community fitness this July, as the Dubai Sports Council rolls out its vibrant summer initiative, ‘Our Summer is Sporty’.
Designed to promote healthy living and active lifestyles, the initiative will bring over 6,000 participants to Hatta across a full calendar of sports and recreational events, including mountain hiking, kayaking, yoga, and indoor tournaments. The events, taking place throughout July, are held in collaboration with the Supreme Committee for the Development of Hatta and various local and private sector partners.
Kicking off on July 4 and running until July 31, the Hatta Summer Sports Tournament—organised by the Hatta Sports Games Company—will serve as the programme’s centerpiece. Held at the Community Development Hall, the tournament offers a broad mix of competitions such as corporate football, PlayStation gaming, soap football, girls’ volleyball and badminton, and senior citizen walking challenges.
Additional highlights include horse riding, guided kayak tours at Hatta Dam, and children’s tours of Hatta Honey Park, offering a rich mix of fitness, fun, and family engagement.
Hayei Hassan Al Budawi, Head of the Sports Games Sector at Hatta Club, said the initiative demonstrates Hatta’s growing role in community sports. “Our goal is to engage more than 1,500 active participants from across the UAE and beyond. With Hatta’s natural beauty and unique sports offerings, we aim to offer a refreshing and healthy summer experience in the heart of the mountains.”
Among the flagship events are:
- A yoga session at Hatta Dam and night hiking in Wadi Hub on July 12
- An open kayaking day at Hatta Dam with free participation on July 20
- A running race organised by Super Sports on July 27
The programme reflects Dubai Sports Council’s broader strategy to embed physical activity into daily life. Its wide-ranging summer portfolio also includes beach, marine, snow, and mountain sports, as well as events for women and People of Determination, making it one of the region’s most inclusive wellness campaigns.
The initiative has received backing from both public and private sector organisations, ensuring all events are delivered to international safety and quality standards. With a focus on accessibility and inclusivity, the initiative continues to support Dubai’s reputation as a leading destination for sports tourism and community well-being.
As summer heats up, Hatta is emerging as a cool alternative for residents and visitors looking to combine nature, activity, and community spirit in one of the UAE’s most scenic regions.
