stc group, a leading digital enabler in the Middle East, has released its 2024 Sustainability Report, revealing significant progress across its environmental, social, and governance (ESG) priorities. The report outlines how the group is embedding sustainability into its operations through targeted initiatives under three pillars: Environmental Performance & Climate, Human Capital Development through Digital Innovation, and Governance & Ethical Excellence.

Environmental Impact: Reducing Emissions and E-Waste

In 2024, stc group implemented AI-driven energy management, energy-efficient technologies, and circular economy practices that led to a 3.6% drop in Scope 1 emissions, a 14.6% reduction in Scope 3 emissions, and a 9.8% decrease in energy intensity.

Tackling the rising challenge of e-waste, stc scaled two major programs:

  • Its end-of-life asset recycling initiative recovered 4,236 tons of digital waste, with 48% reused and 40% recycled.
  • A device trade-in program refurbished over 52,000 devices, achieving a 97% resale rate.

These efforts reflect stc’s growing commitment to sustainable technology management and environmental responsibility.

Investing in Human Capital and Digital Inclusion

In line with its goal to empower future-ready talent, stc group delivered over 476,000 hours of training through stc Academy in 2024, reaching more than 33,000 participants. Employees averaged 22 hours of training each.

The group also maintained 90% workforce nationalization in Saudi Arabia while promoting diversity across 61 nationalities. Women made up 15.8% of the workforce, held 18% of board seats, and accounted for 31% of new hires.

Notably, stc’s SmartTruck Initiative, a mobile classroom, brought digital literacy to over 9,000 elderly citizens in underserved areas, helping bridge the Kingdom’s digital divide. The group also expanded its fiber network, delivering world-class connectivity to 3.6 million households.

Strong Governance and Local Engagement

In governance, stc group reported 100% completion of mandatory integrity training, zero data breaches, and ensured 96% of procurement spending went to local suppliers, reinforcing its local-first strategy.

The report reflects stc group’s vision of a digitally enabled, sustainable future built on trust, security, and responsible growth. As the company continues to scale its services across the region, its 2024 achievements signal a strategic blend of innovation, sustainability, and inclusion at the core of its operations.
