The Dubai Culture and Arts Authority (Dubai Culture) has signed a strategic memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Emirates Intellectual Property Association (EIPA), aiming to enhance public awareness of intellectual property (IP) and strengthen the UAE’s cultural and innovation landscape.
The agreement sets the stage for a series of joint initiatives, workshops, and educational campaigns designed to promote IP rights and foster a deeper understanding of their importance across society. The collaboration reflects a shared commitment to support the UAE’s knowledge-based economy by safeguarding creative, literary, and artistic works through education and legal infrastructure.
Under the MoU, the two entities will coordinate efforts to exchange knowledge resources, including research papers, summaries, training videos, and periodicals, while also encouraging the publication of scientific and cultural research. The aim is to build a robust intellectual property ecosystem that supports creatives, entrepreneurs, and professionals alike.
Her Excellency Hala Badri, Director General of Dubai Culture, emphasized the vital role of IP in enabling a thriving cultural and innovation-driven environment. “The UAE has become an ideal destination for creatives and entrepreneurs, thanks to its solid legislative framework and respect for IP rights,” she said. “This agreement reinforces our commitment to protect intellectual property across literary, intellectual, and artistic fields, helping us achieve Dubai’s vision as a global centre for culture, creativity, and talent.”
Badri noted that IP protection is essential to the UAE’s innovation ecosystem, contributing to research, development, and global investment in creative industries. She added that Dubai Culture will continue to nurture an environment where talent is protected and celebrated.
His Excellency Major General Dr. Abdul Quddoos Abdul Razzaq Al Obaidly, Chairman of EIPA, expressed pride in the partnership, calling it a milestone in promoting IP awareness within the community. “This MoU represents a vital step in creating a culture of respect for IP rights,” he said. “By joining forces with Dubai Culture, we aim to strengthen Dubai’s position as a creative and intellectual capital on the global stage.”
Al Obaidly stressed that the initiative aligns with the UAE’s broader vision for knowledge leadership, highlighting EIPA’s continued efforts to train national talent and expand public understanding of IP legislation. He added that fostering such awareness would not only protect creators but also enhance the overall business and innovation climate in the country.
This partnership marks another significant move in the UAE’s journey toward becoming a global leader in cultural innovation and IP protection, reinforcing its commitment to sustainable development in the creative economy.
