Art lovers and cultural explorers have a new reason to visit Japan this fall as renowned art collective teamLab unveils its largest permanent museum in the country, opening on October 7, 2025, in Minami-ku, Kyoto.

Called teamLab Biovortex Kyoto, the massive 10,000-square-meter space will be a centerpiece of the Kyoto Station Southeast Area Project — a new cultural hub aiming to attract both locals and global visitors. For travelers seeking unique, immersive experiences, this groundbreaking venue is expected to become a bucket-list destination.

The museum’s concept revolves around Environmental Phenomena, showcasing teamLab’s signature style of blending art, nature, and technology. The venue will debut several never-before-seen-in-Japan artworks, including:

  • Massless Amorphous Sculpture – a mesmerizing floating form that reacts to its surroundings.
  • Morphing Continuum – exploring the transformation of matter and space.
  • The Eternal Universe of Words – a poetic digital experience.
  • The Way of Birds and Forest of Resonating Lamps – interactive works connecting the viewer with motion and light.

Travelers familiar with teamLab exhibitions in Tokyo, Singapore, or Abu Dhabi will find new dimensions of the collective’s vision here in Kyoto. For those new to teamLab, the museum offers an ideal starting point to experience the future of art in one of Japan’s most historic cities.

This project is also a key step in Kyoto’s urban development, aiming to revitalize the area around Kyoto Station with a blend of tradition and innovation. The museum’s location — just minutes from major transport lines — makes it easy for domestic and international visitors alike.

Planning Your Visit

Tickets are now available on teamLab’s official website. Pricing is structured by age, with flexible passes for those who prefer open entry times.

  • Adults: from ¥3,800
  • Teens (13–17): ¥2,800
  • Children (4–12): ¥1,800
  • Kids under 3: Free
  • Visitors with disabilities: 50% off adult price
  • Flexible Pass: ¥12,000
(Note: Prices vary by date and on-site purchases add ¥200.)

As Japan continues to welcome back global tourists, teamLab Biovortex Kyoto is set to become one of the country’s most Instagram-worthy and thought-provoking attractions. Whether you’re a repeat visitor to Kyoto or planning your first trip, this new addition makes October 2025 the perfect time to go.
