LG Electronics has unveiled plans to launch its next-generation portable lifestyle TV, the StanbyME 2, this summer. The device is expected to build on the success of the original StanbyME with greater versatility, mobility and design appeal aimed at both home and outdoor use.
While the company has not disclosed full specifications, LG says the StanbyME 2 will offer an “essential companion for work, play and relaxation” with features designed to adapt to modern living. The launch reflects LG’s ongoing focus on merging cutting-edge technology with flexible design to suit different environments.
Ahead of its global release, LG will partner with Mumma Dubai Mums Club for an exclusive “Try & Buy” campaign from 8–24 August 2025. The initiative will allow selected participants to test the StanbyME 2’s capabilities before it becomes available to the public. Applications will be open to those wishing to explore the device’s portable entertainment potential, and spots are limited.
Building on the original
The StanbyME 2 retains the award-winning aesthetic of its predecessor, but LG says it has been enhanced for increased flexibility. Designed to move with the user, the unit can be wheeled between rooms, detached for tabletop use, or carried outdoors.
One of the key upgrades is an improved battery capacity, promising hours of uninterrupted use for streaming, gaming or social gatherings without needing to plug in. The touchscreen interface remains central to its design, and LG says it can also serve as a digital art display to complement a room’s interior.
A focus on lifestyle integration
Industry observers note that LG’s push into portable television reflects a broader trend towards adaptable consumer electronics, where devices serve multiple roles beyond their primary function. “People want more control over where and how they consume media,” said a consumer tech analyst in Dubai. “The StanbyME 2 caters to that demand by making a TV as easy to reposition as a laptop or tablet.”
The original StanbyME was well received among technology enthusiasts and design-focused consumers, praised for its combination of mobility and style. LG is now betting that the upgraded model will appeal to a wider audience, including families, remote workers and outdoor entertainment seekers.
Dubai campaign as launch preview
The “Try & Buy” campaign in Dubai will offer a rare chance for customers to handle the StanbyME 2 in real-world conditions ahead of its release. LG and Mumma Dubai Mums Club will share updates via social media, encouraging applicants to register early due to limited availability.
LG has not yet announced pricing or the exact date of the global rollout but has promised further details in the coming weeks.
For now, the company is inviting technology fans, design enthusiasts and lifestyle buyers to “be part of the journey” as it counts down to the StanbyME 2’s debut.
