Ferrari World Yas Island, Abu Dhabi, roared to life this weekend with the return of the Ferrari Ladies Run, an event dedicated to celebrating fitness, community and women’s empowerment. More than 500 women and girls took part under the iconic red roof, making this the second year of the event’s growing success.
This year’s theme, “Hand in Hand, Celebrating the 50th”, commemorated the 50th anniversary of the General Women’s Union, established in 1975. Organisers described the run as a symbolic reflection of the union’s mission: promoting Emirati women’s rights, leadership and social progress over five decades.
The atmosphere was electric as participants of all ages came together for the fitness challenge, with many wearing red and white to match the spirit of Ferrari World. While some runners were seasoned athletes, others joined as families or friends, turning the race into a celebration of sisterhood as much as sport.
“Today is not just about running; it’s about unity, strength and the achievements of women across the UAE,” one participant said. “Crossing the finish line together felt like a tribute to those who have paved the way for us.”
The Ferrari Ladies Run also featured cultural and family-friendly activities, encouraging spectators to join the celebration. Organisers aimed to inspire wider participation in healthy living and physical activity, aligning with Abu Dhabi’s initiatives to promote wellbeing across the community.
Ferrari World, which is widely known as the world’s first Ferrari-branded theme park, provided a symbolic and striking setting for the run. The iconic venue underlined Abu Dhabi’s ambition to position Yas Island as a hub not only for entertainment and tourism, but also for social and cultural engagement.
The General Women’s Union, founded by the late Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, has played a central role in advancing women’s rights in the UAE. From education and health to leadership roles, Emirati women today occupy positions of influence across public and private sectors. The anniversary of its establishment served as a poignant backdrop for the run, reinforcing the connection between sport, empowerment and heritage.
Officials described the turnout as a strong indicator of how sport can act as a unifying platform. “The Ferrari Ladies Run embodies the energy and determination of Emirati women, while also encouraging the next generation to embrace active lifestyles,” an organiser commented.
As the runners crossed the finish line to applause, the event closed with live entertainment, award ceremonies and community celebrations. Plans are already being discussed for next year’s edition, with expectations of even larger participation.
With its mix of athleticism, culture and social solidarity, the Ferrari Ladies Run has quickly established itself as a fixture in the UAE’s sporting calendar. Organisers say the race not only promotes fitness, but also honours the journey of women in the UAE, ensuring that every step forward is taken together—hand in hand.
