Dubai-based airline flydubai has signed a new interline agreement with TAROM, Romania’s national carrier, giving passengers access to 15 additional destinations through Bucharest Henri Coandă International Airport (OTP).

The deal allows flydubai customers to connect to cities on TAROM’s domestic and international network, including Athens, Amsterdam, Brussels, Cluj-Napoca, Frankfurt, Madrid and Paris.

Ramesh Anantharaman, Divisional Senior Vice President of Revenue Management and Business Effectiveness at flydubai, said the agreement would expand travel opportunities for customers while strengthening commercial links.
“We are excited to add TAROM to our growing list of interline partners. This newest agreement will enable flydubai customers to benefit from greater access between Dubai and TAROM’s regional network across Eastern and Central Europe, enhancing trade, tourism and cultural exchange,” he said.

Under the partnership, travellers will be able to book single tickets covering both carriers and check their baggage through to their final destination, simplifying travel between the UAE, Romania and beyond.

Expanding ties with Romania

flydubai has operated flights to Bucharest since 2012 and currently runs double daily services between Dubai International (DXB) and the Romanian capital. The airline will also begin flights to Iași, its second destination in Romania, from September 2025.

The carrier said demand for travel to and from Romania has grown steadily, reflecting deeper trade and tourism links between the two countries. By teaming with TAROM, it aims to provide smoother connectivity for passengers travelling across Eastern and Central Europe.

Costin Iordache, General Manager of TAROM, welcomed the partnership as a natural extension of the airline’s growth strategy.
“As Romania’s national carrier, TAROM is delighted to join hands with flydubai. It is a natural step in our strategy to facilitate connectivity between the cities we operate in and the most interesting travel destinations. Together we will offer passengers safe, reliable and convenient travel options, connecting our regions and supporting tourism and business,” he said.

Passenger experience

Passengers travelling on flydubai in Business Class can enjoy lie-flat seats, internationally inspired meals and a wide range of entertainment options. Economy Class travellers benefit from reclining seats with adjustable leather headrests designed for comfort on longer journeys.

The airline currently operates a modern fleet of 93 Boeing 737 aircraft and serves more than 135 destinations across 57 countries. Since its launch, flydubai has opened more than 100 routes that previously had no direct air links to Dubai, strengthening the city’s role as a global aviation hub.

With TAROM joining as its latest interline partner, flydubai is extending its reach into Central and Eastern Europe, giving passengers more choice and flexibility when flying between the UAE and Europe.
