Dubai has added yet another record to its name – this time in the world of coffee. An Emirati café has secured a Guinness World Record for serving the world’s most expensive cup of coffee, priced at an eye-watering Dh 2,500 (over $650).
The honour was awarded on 13 September to Roasters, a homegrown coffee brand, at its flagship branch on Boulevard Downtown Dubai. The achievement was confirmed by Guinness World Records and reported by Khaleej Times.
Founded in Dubai, Roasters has built a strong reputation among coffee enthusiasts for its dedication to quality beans and precise brewing. From its modest beginnings, the brand has expanded to 11 locations across the UAE, attracting both local customers and international visitors.
What makes it so expensive?
According to the company, the record-breaking coffee is brewed from Panama Esmeralda Geisha beans, considered among the rarest and most premium in the world. The experience goes beyond the cup itself. Each order is served with a carefully crafted tiramisu, rich chocolate ice cream, and a bespoke chocolate piece that symbolises the exclusivity of the moment.
Roasters said the creation was designed not only as a luxury indulgence but also as a celebration of craftsmanship in the coffee industry. By blending rarity, presentation, and taste, the café aimed to showcase coffee as both an everyday necessity and a luxury experience.
Dubai’s appetite for records
Dubai is no stranger to world records, ranging from the tallest tower to the largest fountain. The latest recognition highlights the city’s growing reputation as a hub for both innovation and luxury experiences. Food and beverage concepts in Dubai often push the boundaries of what is possible, and Roasters’ achievement adds to the city’s global appeal for tourists seeking unique experiences.
The coffee record has also stirred conversations online, with many users expressing fascination – and amusement – at the idea of spending more than $600 on a single cup. While critics question the practicality, supporters argue that such creations highlight Dubai’s position as a destination where luxury is redefined in unexpected ways.
Coffee culture in the UAE
The UAE has seen a surge in specialty coffee culture over the past decade, with local brands competing alongside international names. Consumers are increasingly drawn to cafés offering premium beans, innovative brewing methods, and carefully curated experiences.
For Roasters, the Guinness title cements its position as a pioneer in the regional coffee market. “We’ve always focused on combining quality with creativity,” the brand said in a statement, adding that the award reflects its mission to raise standards in the industry.
As coffee continues to be one of the world’s most consumed beverages, Dubai’s latest world record underscores the city’s ability to blend tradition with extravagance. For coffee lovers willing to spend lavishly, Roasters has brewed not just a drink but an experience worth remembering.
