The British University in Dubai (BUiD) successfully held the 9th Doctoral Research Conference (BDRC 2025), reinforcing its commitment to academic excellence and interdisciplinary research. The event brought together doctoral students, faculty, and professionals from across disciplines in a hybrid format, welcoming both in-person and virtual attendees.

Open to students from BUiD and its partner universities, the conference served as a dynamic platform for doctoral researchers to present, publish, and discuss their work, while receiving constructive feedback from academic peers and industry experts. This year’s conference featured dedicated tracks in Education, Business, Management & Law, Engineering, and Information Technology, with presentations reflecting some of the most pressing global challenges and emerging technologies.

Prof Khalid Al Marri, Dean of Research at BUiD, highlighted the significance of the event, stating:

“The Doctoral Research Conference is more than just a platform for academic exchange—it’s a celebration of innovation, interdisciplinary collaboration, and the future of research. At BUiD, we are proud to support emerging scholars who are shaping knowledge and practice across diverse fields.”

Key research areas presented at the conference included Artificial Intelligence, Civil and Electrical Engineering, Cybersecurity, Renewable Energy, Big Data, Robotics, Smart Infrastructure, and Water & Sustainability. The diversity of topics underscored the university’s ongoing efforts to integrate practical relevance with cutting-edge research, tackling both regional and global issues.

Participants benefited from keynote speeches, academic panel discussions, and multiple networking opportunities that facilitated knowledge sharing and collaboration. The hybrid structure allowed for wider participation, reflecting BUiD’s adaptability and inclusivity in advancing research culture.

Beyond presentations, BDRC 2025 served as a launchpad for interdisciplinary exploration, encouraging participants to engage across research domains and challenge conventional academic silos. The event encouraged doctoral candidates to explore new methodologies, apply theoretical frameworks to real-world problems, and develop research with both academic and societal impact.

The Conference plays a key role in BUiD’s broader mission to foster a research-rich academic environment. As a UAE-based institution with a strong focus on sustainability, technology, and innovation, BUiD continues to support doctoral students in contributing to regional development and global scholarship.

BDRC 2025 once again proved to be more than just a conference—it was a reflection of BUiD’s strategic vision for a vibrant, impactful research culture. With a growing reputation for fostering thought leadership and academic rigour, BUiD remains at the forefront of doctoral education in the region.
