Diyar Al Muharraq, Bahrain’s largest real estate development company, has partnered with the University of Bahrain (UOB) to launch the Real-World Urban Design Challenge, reaffirming its commitment to supporting the Kingdom’s next generation of professionals in the real estate sector.

The event, held on 18 September 2025, brought together representatives from Diyar Al Muharraq and UOB to celebrate innovation and creativity in urban planning. Six high-performing students from UOB’s Department of Architecture and Interior Design presented forward-thinking concepts inspired by practical urban development needs.

One project was selected as the winning entry from each of the two categories—Architecture and Interior Design—with the winners receiving valuable prizes. Other participants were honoured with commemorative gifts in recognition of their work.

Eng. Ahmed Alammadi, Chief Executive Officer of Diyar Al Muharraq, said the initiative reflects the company’s focus on social responsibility and youth development.
“Driven by our dedication to social responsibility, we remain keen on working with prominent institutions across various sectors to launch meaningful initiatives, particularly those that encourage our youth to pursue rewarding careers in real estate development,” he said. “We strongly believe that the foundation of any sector’s progress lies in harnessing the creativity and bright ideas of the next generation.”

The challenge highlighted the importance of bridging academic learning with real-world applications, offering students an opportunity to engage with industry experts while developing designs aligned with Bahrain’s urban development priorities.

As Bahrain’s largest integrated residential city, Diyar Al Muharraq continues to play a central role in shaping the country’s urban landscape. The project combines contemporary housing solutions with commercial, recreational, and healthcare facilities, reflecting a vision of modern infrastructure that remains rooted in the core family values of Bahraini society.

By collaborating with UOB, Diyar Al Muharraq not only showcased the innovative capacity of Bahrain’s youth but also reinforced the significance of academic-industry partnerships in building future-ready cities.
