The Dubai Sports Council has kicked off its ambitious summer initiative titled “Our Summer is Sporty”, offering a wide variety of sports and wellness activities across the city from now until the end of August. The campaign is designed to foster a culture of year-round physical activity, even during the intense UAE summer, and includes more than a dozen venues and sporting categories to suit all ages and abilities.

Aiming to enhance quality of life and maintain Dubai’s reputation as one of the world’s most active cities, the initiative will host events ranging from snow-based cycling to indoor mall races and water sports on Jumeirah beaches. Key partners include national institutions and private event organizers, with inclusive programs crafted for women, senior citizens, and People of Determination.

Indoor, Snow, and Water Sports Galore

One of the standout elements of this year’s program is the first-ever Snow Duathlon, which will take place at Ski Dubai in Mall of the Emirates on June 29. This venue will also host snow yoga, snow walking, spinning sessions, and women-focused snow hikes. A special adaptive skiing program has been created for People of Determination, along with a summer ski camp for children.

Meanwhile, indoor mall races will bring running enthusiasts to air-conditioned environments, with races scheduled at Dubai Hills Mall, City Centre Mirdif, Ibn Battuta Mall, Wafi Mall, and others through August.

For fans of the outdoors, the Hatta region will offer mountain hiking, trail running, and kayaking, all supported by air-conditioned venues and shaded trail systems. Back in Dubai, Jumeirah Beach will serve as the site of open-water sports days, including surfing, stand-up paddling, and kayaking, led by the Dubai International Marine Club and Dubai Sailing and Yacht Club.

Inclusive Events and Youth Camps

A major focus of the campaign is inclusivity. The Council has curated events for senior citizens, including snow walks and dedicated fitness classes, while People of Determination can participate in tailored sports like adaptive skiing and inclusive indoor games.

Children and youth camps will run from June 30 to August 22 at Dubai Sports World and Danube Sports World. These camps include multi-sport training sessions in swimming, skating, gymnastics, and more, all supervised by certified professionals.

Women’s sports are also at the forefront, with basketball and football tournaments hosted at Danube Sports World and Jam Sports Academy, along with women-only fitness classes and snow sessions.

Major Tournaments and Special Events

Additional highlights include:

  • World Curling Masters Tour at Dubai Ice Rink on July 4
  • Fight Night Boxing Championship at The Crafty Fox on July 4
  • Wrestling Championship at Warehouse Four on July 19
  • Cycling and scooter competitions at Meydan Track
  • Men’s basketball and football tournaments at Jam Sports Academy

A Citywide Collaboration

“Our Summer is Sporty” is a collaborative effort involving public and private sector institutions, delivering world-class facilities and safe environments. Venues such as the Hamdan Sports Complex and Dubai Sports World will play central roles in hosting events.

The Dubai Sports Council has emphasized that this initiative is part of its broader mission to embed physical activity into the daily lives of both residents and visitors. More events are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.

Residents and visitors alike are encouraged to take part in this inclusive, dynamic celebration of health, movement, and community spirit during Dubai’s sizzling summer months.
