His death has prompted an outpouring of tributes from fans, colleagues, and cultural institutions across the region.

“The Actors Syndicate, headed by Dr. Ashraf Zaki and the Board of Directors, extends its sincere condolences to his family, praying to God Almighty to have mercy on the deceased and to inspire his family and loved ones with patience and solace. To God we belong and to Him we shall return.”
Just a day before his passing, Ashraf Zaki had announced that Labib’s health had suddenly worsened. Family sources confirmed he had been placed under close medical supervision, and urged fans to keep him in their prayers.
Labib had faced significant health challenges over the past several years. Around seven years ago, he suffered a severe stroke that left him partially paralyzed on the left side of his body. The incident forced him to step back from his acting career during a critical phase. Despite the setback, Labib underwent extensive physical therapy and eventually made a partial return to the screen, appearing in supporting and guest roles in both television and cinema.
Known for his versatility and sharp comedic timing, Lotfy Labib had a prolific career spanning theatre, film, and television. He often portrayed characters marked by wit and wisdom, earning him a beloved status among audiences of all ages. His roles in films like El Nazer, Amir El Zalam, and Zaky Chan, as well as countless TV dramas, remain fan favorites and are regularly cited for their enduring appeal.
His colleagues in the arts community have remembered him as a mentor and a deeply principled artist. Tributes on social media described Labib as a “pillar of Egyptian acting” and “a voice of integrity and humour.”
The exact cause of death has not been officially disclosed, but reports suggest complications related to his long-standing medical condition contributed to his passing.
Labib’s funeral and memorial details are expected to be announced by his family in the coming days.
As Egypt and the Arab entertainment world bid farewell to one of its most iconic performers, Lotfy Labib’s legacy continues through the many characters he brought to life, and the laughter, reflection, and cultural commentary he gifted his audiences for over four decades.
