Emirates has introduced the Dom Pérignon Rosé Vintage 2009 Champagne to its First Class service, offering passengers across all routes departing Dubai the chance to savour one of the world’s most exclusive vintages.
The airline, which already serves Dom Pérignon Vintage in First Class worldwide, is the only carrier granted access to this rare release through its long-standing partnership with Moët Hennessy. The special vintage will be available for several months and can be checked in advance via the airline’s website or mobile app.
A bold new expression
While the classic Dom Pérignon Vintage blends Pinot Noir and Chardonnay in near-equal measure, the Rosé 2009 is a bolder interpretation with a higher proportion of Pinot Noir. The addition of still red wine lends both colour and structure, resulting in an expression marked by intensity and sensual depth.
Tasting notes describe the 2009 vintage as rich and layered, opening with rose petals, orange oil and saffron, before developing into vibrant red fruit tones of raspberry, cherry and cassis, with deeper hints of licorice and gingerbread. On the palate, it offers ripe, fleshy fruit, a supple structure and a long, memorable finish.
Champagne at altitude
Emirates has long positioned its wine and champagne programme as central to its premium offering. Over the past 16 years, the airline has invested more than $1 billion into its wine cellar, purchasing exceptional vintages early to allow them to mature before being served in-flight. Its cellar in France currently stores 6.5 million bottles, some of which will not be ready to pour until 2035.
The airline buys more champagne than any other carrier worldwide and holds exclusive rights to serve Dom Pérignon Vintage 2015, Dom Pérignon Plénitude 2 2006 and Dom Pérignon Rosé 2009. Other sparkling options onboard include Moët & Chandon and Veuve Clicquot labels, as well as Australian Chandon Vintage Brut 2019 in Premium Economy.
Curated luxury
Emirates serves 37 different French wines and champagnes across its cabins. First Class selections, including Bordeaux reds, typically mature for 12 to 15 years before being offered onboard. The airline also carries a vintage collection featuring Château Margaux 2004, Château Cos d’Estournel 2005 and Château Montrose 2005.
Beyond champagne and wine, passengers can also enjoy a carefully curated spirits list featuring global labels alongside niche, hand-crafted options. Hennessy cognacs are served in all cabins.
For First Class customers, however, the arrival of Dom Pérignon Rosé Vintage 2009 represents an opportunity to experience one of the Champagne region’s most coveted expressions – one available only at 40,000 feet.
