Emirates Gas Introduces New LPG Cylinder Seal in Dubai

Emirates Gas, a wholly owned subsidiary of ENOC Group, has introduced a new yellow security seal for liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) cylinders in Dubai as part of ongoing efforts to enhance safety and protect consumers.

The updated seal has been in place since 18 June 2025, with a notice period extended to 23 June to give distributors time to implement the change. The measure applies to all LPG cylinders distributed across the emirate.

Company officials say the change is designed to improve the integrity of cylinders in circulation, making it easier for customers to verify that their cylinder is genuine and has not been tampered with. Distributors in Dubai were formally notified ahead of the switch to ensure a smooth transition.

“As a market leader in the UAE’s gas sector, we take pride in maintaining the highest safety and security standards,” an Emirates Gas spokesperson said. “The new yellow seal is a further step in ensuring the protection of our customers and the quality of our products.”

Emirates Gas, which operates across the UAE, says the update reflects its wider commitment to improving safety features in its LPG products. The company has previously introduced several measures to safeguard customers, including regular inspection protocols, enhanced tamper-proof seals, and awareness campaigns to encourage safe handling of LPG cylinders.

LPG remains a widely used energy source in the UAE, particularly in residential and commercial kitchens, as well as in certain industrial applications. Safety is a key concern in the sector, with regulatory authorities and suppliers working to ensure cylinders meet stringent quality standards.

Under the new system, customers are advised to look for the distinctive yellow seal before accepting delivery of an LPG cylinder. The seal serves as an indicator that the cylinder has been filled, tested, and sealed by an authorised distributor.

Emirates Gas has urged customers to purchase LPG cylinders only from authorised dealers to ensure compliance with safety regulations. Any irregularities, such as missing seals or signs of tampering, should be reported to local authorities or directly to Emirates Gas.

The company also emphasised the importance of public awareness in maintaining safety standards. “Consumers play an essential role in the safety process by ensuring they buy from trusted sources and by checking seals before use,” the spokesperson said.

Industry experts say such initiatives are critical in preventing the circulation of unsafe or counterfeit cylinders, which could pose fire or explosion risks. By updating the seal and raising awareness, Emirates Gas hopes to reduce such risks and reinforce public confidence in LPG safety.

As part of its long-term strategy, Emirates Gas will continue to review and update safety measures for its LPG products, aligning with both UAE regulations and international best practices. The company says it remains committed to delivering premium-quality gas solutions while protecting the communities it serves.
