Dubai-based airline flydubai has marked Emirati Women’s Day 2025 by honouring the growing achievements of Emirati women within its workforce and recognising their vital role in shaping the country’s aviation sector.

The celebration comes as the airline records a 30% increase in the number of Emirati women joining its workforce this year compared to 2023, reflecting a broader national push towards empowering women in leadership, innovation, and technical fields.

Since its inception, flydubai has sought to support Emirati talent through career-building opportunities, with particular investment in training programmes for women across multiple departments. The airline says the development of its female employees is a central part of its long-term growth strategy and a reflection of the UAE’s vision for inclusive progress.

“Emirati Women’s Day is a celebration of the remarkable achievements of the women of our nation,” said Nasser Binkherbash, Senior Vice President of Human Resources at flydubai. “As we reflect on their valuable contributions to our society and workforce, we draw inspiration from the vision of our leadership and remain committed to fostering a work environment where women can thrive and continue to be a key part of our success story.”

The airline highlighted that Emirati women today are taking on roles in areas ranging from aviation operations and customer service to engineering and pilot training. This growing presence signals not only the success of government initiatives to promote women’s participation in all industries but also a shift in the aviation sector towards greater diversity.

flydubai’s efforts extend beyond recruitment. Its wide-ranging programmes, including the Ab Initio Pilot Training Programme (MPL), Cadet Pilot Programme, and Engineering Apprenticeship, have been designed to attract and develop skilled Emirati talent. The airline also provides internships and work placements, giving young Emiratis the opportunity to gain first-hand experience in the fast-evolving aviation industry.

The airline said these initiatives are vital to strengthening its ambitious expansion plans, ensuring that homegrown talent continues to play a central role in flydubai’s growth story.

Emirati Women’s Day, held annually on 28 August, was established to recognise the contributions of Emirati women to the UAE’s development across social, cultural, economic, and political life. This year’s theme has further emphasised the importance of women’s leadership and innovation in building a sustainable future for the nation.

By highlighting the progress of its female workforce, flydubai underlined that the spirit of Emirati Women’s Day resonates deeply with the aviation industry — an industry where adaptability, innovation, and ambition remain essential.

As Emirati women continue to break barriers and advance in aviation careers, their role within flydubai represents not only the airline’s commitment to inclusivity but also the UAE’s ongoing transformation into a global hub of opportunity and progress.
