2025 Acadia, Traverse Named IIHS Top Safety Picks

For families looking to combine everyday comfort with exceptional peace of mind, two new SUVs from General Motors are standing out in 2025. The GMC Acadia and Chevrolet Traverse have each earned the coveted Top Safety Pick award from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS)—a mark of excellence in vehicle protection and reliability.

These awards, announced in March and April respectively, reflect GM’s long-standing emphasis on designing vehicles that prioritise safety as much as style, comfort, and functionality. Whether it’s school runs, road trips, or daily commutes, these vehicles are tailored to meet the demands of modern family life with confidence.

“We take safety personally. These awards are a reflection of our promise to deliver safe, reliable vehicles for every journey,” said Furrukh Jawaid, Chief Marketing Officer for Chevrolet and GMC at GM Africa & Middle East. “We know our customers place enormous trust in us—these recognitions help validate that trust.”

Both SUVs were developed at GM’s Lansing Delta Township Assembly facility in Michigan and subjected to rigorous internal and third-party crash testing. In addition to robust structural protection, both models are equipped with an array of intelligent safety features such as automatic emergency braking, lane keep assist, forward collision alert, and blind zone steering assist—tools that help prevent accidents before they happen.

From a lifestyle perspective, this means more than just passing crash tests—it means greater peace of mind, especially for families who value safety just as much as spacious interiors, tech-savvy dashboards, and flexible storage.

Daniel Oden, Regional Quality Manager at GM Africa & Middle East, notes that safety is “not just an engineering goal—it’s a lifestyle enabler. Whether you’re heading out for a weekend adventure or navigating school pickups, knowing your vehicle is built to protect makes all the difference.”

And GM’s approach to road safety goes well beyond the vehicles themselves. The company has invested heavily in community-focused programs, research partnerships, and systemic change advocacy, all aimed at reducing accidents and promoting smarter driving habits.

GM’s larger goal—Zero Crashes, Zero Emissions, Zero Congestion—is a vision rooted not only in technological progress but also in enhancing everyday life. In today’s fast-paced world, where drivers juggle work, family, and well-being, these awards signal that drivers don’t have to compromise on safety to enjoy comfort and style.

Whether you’re an adventure-seeking couple, a busy family, or a safety-conscious commuter, the 2025 Acadia and Traverse make a compelling case: You can drive with peace of mind, without giving up the lifestyle you love.
