Huawei has unveiled the MatePad 11.5, a mid-range tablet designed to bring advanced screen technology and productivity tools to a wider audience. The device, which features the company’s PaperMatte Display, is now available for pre-order in Kuwait starting at KWD 109.9 through Huawei’s online store.
The PaperMatte Display, once limited to Huawei’s premium devices, uses nano-level etching and magnetron nano optical coating to deliver a screen experience that feels closer to paper. The technology reduces glare and reflection, allowing for clear viewing in bright light and offering what Huawei calls a “pen-on-paper” sensation when used with its M-Pencil (3rd generation) stylus.
Huawei says the display has been designed with eye comfort in mind, featuring circular polarisation and DC dimming to minimise strain, particularly for students and younger users who are expected to spend long hours on digital screens.
Beyond its display, the MatePad 11.5 aims to serve as a practical productivity device. It comes equipped with PC-level WPS Office software, supporting tasks such as spreadsheets and presentations, while the optional detachable keyboard turns the tablet into a mobile workstation.
The tablet also supports Huawei’s Floating Multi-Window and Super Device functions, designed to make multitasking smoother and switching between apps more seamless. For digital note-taking, the upgraded Huawei Notes app introduces features such as AI handwriting enhancement and a range of new brush options. In addition, Huawei’s in-house painting software, GoPaint, has been made available on a mid-range device for the first time.
App support is provided via AppGallery, Huawei’s official app store, which the company says is among the top three globally in terms of distribution. AppGallery serves as the hub for apps across Huawei devices, with a focus on certified and secure downloads.
Under the hood, the MatePad 11.5 is powered by a 10,100 mAh battery, offering up to 14 hours of local video playback on a single charge. It supports 40 W Huawei SuperCharge for faster recharging, and incorporates a cooling system said to be 25% more efficient than its predecessor.
For media consumption, the device is fitted with a quad-speaker setup enhanced by Huawei’s Histen 9.0 audio algorithm, aimed at providing immersive sound quality.
Huawei says the MatePad 11.5 reflects its commitment to making advanced features more widely available, blending digital creativity tools, smart office functions, and immersive media experiences into a device priced for accessibility.
The tablet will be available in select markets from August 2025, with future Huawei tablets expected to build on this foundation, expanding the availability of its PaperMatte technology to more consumers worldwide.
