Hytera, a global leader in professional communication technologies, has secured the “Best Use of Critical Communications in Transport” award at the 2025 International Critical Communications Awards (ICCAs) for its groundbreaking 5G MCX Radio System deployed on Hong Kong’s MTR Light Rail 2.0.

The prestigious award, presented during the ICCAs held in Brussels, honors Hytera’s innovative work integrating MCPTT (Push-to-Talk), MCVideo, and MCData over a public 5G network—creating a mission-critical communications (MCX) platform for one of Asia’s busiest transit systems. The project’s implementation is expected to dramatically boost safety, intelligence, and operational efficiency, aligning with global efforts toward smart and sustainable urban transit.

This recognition marks Hytera’s fourth consecutive ICCA win since 2022, underlining its industry leadership in critical communications. Previous winning deployments included solutions for Sri Lanka Railways, LECO Electricity, and Baosteel, spanning sectors from public transport to manufacturing and utilities.

Benchmark for Smarter Transit

Hytera’s MCX deployment for Hong Kong’s Light Rail 2.0 project stands out for its seamless integration into a public 5G infrastructure, showcasing the readiness of mission-critical systems to operate over next-generation networks. The deployment enables high-speed data transfer, real-time video communication, and secure push-to-talk voice communication for rail operators and emergency response teams.

The company’s award-winning solution sets a new benchmark in how mission-critical communications can empower urban transit modernization, providing scalable, interoperable, and cost-effective alternatives to legacy systems.

“This award is a strong endorsement of our commitment to innovation in mission-critical communications,” said Stanley Song, Vice President of Hytera. “We’re proud to support Hong Kong’s Light Rail transformation and to see our MCX solution recognized on an international stage.”

Continued Industry Recognition

Organized by the Critical Communications Association (TCCA), the ICCAs are widely regarded as the most prestigious awards in the global critical communications sector. They recognize excellence, innovation, and measurable impact across various industries, including public safety, transport, utilities, and enterprise.

Hytera’s repeated wins over the past four years underscore its pivotal role in shaping the future of mission-critical technology, helping clients achieve greater safety, efficiency, and digital resilience.

With global demand for smart infrastructure on the rise, the successful deployment in Hong Kong positions Hytera as a trusted provider of future-ready solutions for governments and industries navigating complex communication needs.

As cities worldwide move toward smarter and more connected systems, Hytera’s technology offers a compelling blueprint for next-generation urban mobility powered by 5G and AI-integrated communication platforms.
