iPhone 17 Pro design leaked ahead of September launch

Apple’s much-anticipated iPhone 17 Pro appears to have had its final design leaked on social media, revealing major changes to the device’s structure and performance features just weeks ahead of its expected September unveiling.

Images circulating on X (formerly Twitter) suggest a noticeable departure from previous designs. While the phone retains its familiar rectangular frame with rounded edges, the rear now houses a reconfigured camera island, three distinct sensors, and a repositioned Apple logo. The MagSafe cutout also appears slightly lowered to accommodate the new layout.

According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple will launch the iPhone 17 series alongside three additional models, continuing its multi-tiered product strategy. The phones are expected to come in new colour variants including Dark Blue, Orange, Grey, Black, and White.

The iPhone 17 Pro’s camera system includes a 48MP periscope telephoto lens—Apple’s first of its kind. The lens allows users to zoom in on distant subjects with significantly improved clarity, a major appeal for photography enthusiasts. This new sensor is surrounded by an aluminum casing, while the lens itself remains glass, in a shift away from the titanium-glass chassis used in the iPhone 16 series.

In another design evolution, Apple is replacing its titanium frame with a more lightweight aluminum-glass body, reportedly to enhance durability while reducing weight. The top speaker grill is also being widened, which sources claim will improve audio performance, particularly in loud environments.

The display, a 120Hz OLED panel, remains the same size as its predecessor but could feature a new anti-glare and scratch-resistant coating. This addition, similar to technology found on Samsung’s Galaxy S25 Ultra, is aimed at improving visibility in direct sunlight and overall screen protection.

Performance-wise, the iPhone 17 Pro is expected to be the most powerful Apple smartphone to date. Reports from AppleTrack suggest the device will include Apple’s upcoming A19 Pro chip and 12GB of RAM—double that of the iPhone 16 Pro. The phone may also ship with a larger 5,000mAh battery, though its impact on overall usage remains to be tested.

These leaks arrive just weeks before Apple’s official September event, where the tech giant traditionally reveals its flagship products. While Apple has not confirmed any of the reported changes, the consistency across multiple leak sources suggests the iPhone 17 Pro could mark a significant evolution in the brand’s design and hardware strategy.

As anticipation builds, industry analysts predict that Apple’s focus on camera innovation, build quality, and processing power will appeal to both loyal users and new adopters, setting a strong tone for the company’s 2025 product line.
