Jazeera Airways Resumes Kuwait-Damascus Flights

Jazeera Airways, Kuwait’s leading low-cost carrier, has officially resumed direct flights between Kuwait and Damascus after a 13-year suspension—reopening a long-awaited travel corridor for thousands of Syrians and signalling a fresh chapter in regional connectivity.

The inaugural flight departed from Jazeera Terminal 5 this morning with a full passenger load. For many of the travellers, the journey represented more than just a destination — it was a homecoming after years, or even decades, of absence.

The restoration of this route holds deep significance for the Syrian diaspora in Kuwait, which includes over 200,000 individuals—the second-largest Arab expatriate group in the country. The direct connection enables smoother travel for visiting family, rebuilding relationships, and reviving cultural and economic ties.

Daily Service with Expansion Plans

Jazeera Airways initially launched the route with one daily flight and is already planning to expand the frequency to twice daily by the end of the summer travel season. The airline is also exploring the possibility of adding more Syrian cities, such as Aleppo and Deir Ez Zoor, as market conditions allow.

“This is more than just the reopening of a route—it is the restoration of a vital bridge for people,” said Barathan Pasupathi, Chief Executive Officer of Jazeera Airways.

“Many of the passengers on our inaugural flight were returning to Syria for the first time in years, and the emotions witnessed at the departure gate were a powerful reminder of how meaningful this service is.”

Pasupathi expressed gratitude to aviation authorities in both Kuwait and Syria for their support in facilitating the route’s relaunch.

Regional Connectivity with Community Impact

The airline’s return to Damascus is a strategic move rooted in both community needs and regional recovery. The Syrian market had been suspended from Jazeera’s network since the early 2010s, due to conflict-related disruptions. The relaunch marks a renewed confidence in Syria’s re-engagement with regional aviation and trade.

Jazeera Airways’ expansion is part of a broader effort to strengthen its role as a connector within the Middle East. The carrier has rapidly expanded its network across the region and into South Asia and Europe, while maintaining its low-cost, high-accessibility model.

Booking and Availability

Flights to Damascus can now be booked through Jazeera’s official website at www.jazeeraairways.com or via its mobile application. The airline advises early booking due to expected high demand, especially during the peak summer months.

With this historic return to Syria, Jazeera Airways not only reopens a key travel route but also reaffirms its commitment to serving the needs of communities across the Gulf and Levant.
