Jazeera Airways, Kuwait’s leading low-cost carrier, has announced the return of its seasonal direct flights to Abha, Saudi Arabia, starting 15 July 2025. The route will operate three times a week through September, offering convenient access to one of the Kingdom’s most scenic and temperate summer destinations.
Nicknamed the “Bride of the Mountain,” Abha is located in the high-altitude Aseer region, known for its cool climate, dramatic mountain ranges, and rich cultural heritage. With summer temperatures ranging between 25–30°C, it offers a refreshing escape from the Gulf’s intense heat.
Barathan Pasupathi, CEO of Jazeera Airways, highlighted the significance of the relaunch:
“Abha’s natural beauty and vibrant heritage make it a standout summer destination. This route underscores our commitment to offering travellers access to unique, value-driven experiences across the region.”
The airline acknowledged the support of the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA), the Saudi Tourism Authority (STA), and the Air Connectivity Program (ACP) in facilitating the route’s resumption.
This move strengthens Jazeera Airways’ growing footprint in Saudi Arabia, where Abha becomes the seventh city served by the airline. Passengers from Jazeera’s wider network can also connect through Kuwait, further integrating Saudi destinations into regional travel itineraries.
Abdulkarim Aldarwish, President of Middle East and Africa Markets at the Saudi Tourism Authority, praised the airline’s continued investment:
“This new route aligns with our strategy to enhance Saudi’s air connectivity and promote destinations like Abha. Jazeera Airways is a vital partner in opening up these opportunities.”
Majid Khan, CEO of the Air Connectivity Program, echoed the sentiment, stating:
“Direct access to Aseer from Kuwait is a key priority. We’re pleased to work with Jazeera Airways in our mission to attract international visitors and expand tourism offerings.”
The relaunch coincides with Saudi Arabia’s “Colour Your Summer” campaign, which is drawing increased regional interest in offbeat and naturally stunning destinations like Abha.
As regional air travel picks up for the summer season, the Kuwait–Abha connection is set to offer both leisure and cultural tourists a compelling new route into southwestern Saudi Arabia.
