Kia Corporation has strengthened its reputation for vehicle safety, with three of its 2025 models earning the coveted Top Safety Pick+ (TSP+) rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) — the organisation’s highest safety honour.
The 2025 Kia K4 (built after January 2025), Kia EV9, and Kia Telluride were each awarded the TSP+ designation, placing them among the safest vehicles available in the U.S. market under the IIHS’s updated and more demanding crash test criteria.
These awards affirm Kia’s growing leadership in automotive safety innovation, particularly in structural design and the use of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS).
“Safety is a foundational pillar of our brand,” said Yaser Shabsogh, Vice President of Commercial Operations at Kia Middle East & Africa. “Being recognised by the IIHS under their most rigorous criteria yet is a strong validation of the work we’re doing globally. From reinforced body structures to driver assistance technologies, we’re focused on delivering meaningful, real-world safety benefits.”
The updated IIHS testing now places greater emphasis on rear passenger protection and nighttime crash avoidance, two areas where Kia’s 2025 lineup has performed exceptionally well. Kia credits its results to improvements in crash protection systems, structural engineering, and the integration of next-generation ADAS across its fleet.
Each of the three awarded models is tailored to the U.S. market and showcases a blend of advanced safety features, including collision avoidance systems, enhanced airbag systems, pedestrian detection, and lane-keeping assist.
The recognition further supports Kia’s positioning as a Sustainable Mobility Solutions Provider, combining eco-conscious development with high safety standards. It also reflects the brand’s commitment to “protecting every passenger, in every journey,” as described by Shabsogh.
The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety is a U.S.-based, independent non-profit organisation that conducts extensive vehicle testing with the aim of reducing deaths, injuries, and property damage resulting from road accidents. Its Top Safety Pick and Top Safety Pick+ designations are considered gold standards in vehicle safety and are closely watched by consumers, media, and auto analysts.
As Kia continues to expand its lineup of electric and next-generation vehicles, the brand’s emphasis on safety remains front and centre — offering drivers peace of mind without compromising on innovation, performance, or design.
