Kristin Cabot, who went viral this summer when she was filmed kissing her boss at a Coldplay concert, has filed for divorce from her husband Andrew Cabot.
The incident, captured on the jumbotron at Gillette Stadium in Boston in July, showed Cabot wrapped in the arms of Andy Byron, then chief executive of software company Astronomer. The footage quickly spread online, prompting both Cabot and Byron to leave their roles at the company.
At the time, Andrew Cabot — CEO of Privateer Rum — was on a business trip to Japan. He reportedly returned to a media storm outside the couple’s New Hampshire home. Friends told US Weekly that he was “blindsided” by the publicity and the depth of the marriage breakdown.
Marriage troubles long before scandal
According to reports, Kristin and Andrew Cabot’s marriage had been troubled for months before the concert incident. Sources close to the couple said mediation had been attempted but failed to resolve their issues.
Julia, a former acquaintance of Andrew Cabot, told the Daily Mail that his reputation was far from positive. “He’s not a nice person. Now something bad has happened to him, and people are calling it karma,” she said.
She added that his privileged background — from a prominent Boston Brahmin family — meant his pride was more damaged than his outlook. “The only thing he’s sad about is that he was embarrassed,” she claimed.
Fallout for Andy Byron
For Byron, the consequences have also been significant. He resigned from Astronomer shortly after the scandal erupted, while his wife Megan removed his surname from her social media accounts.
The Daily Mail reported that Megan has since left their family home in Massachusetts and moved to a vacation property in Maine with support from relatives. She has not filed for divorce, but her actions suggest strain within the marriage.
A viral moment with lasting impact
Coldplay frontman Chris Martin even commented on the kiss during the show, joking that the couple were either “very shy” or hiding an affair. It later emerged they were indeed romantically involved.
What seemed like a brief, private moment has had far-reaching consequences: two executives lost their jobs, one marriage has ended, and another is under severe pressure.
The Cabots’ divorce filing formally marks the collapse of a relationship already strained before the concert, while questions remain over Byron’s future both personally and professionally.
