Netflix has officially confirmed that its hit series Wednesday will return for a third season, following the dramatic conclusion of Season 2 earlier this week.

The gothic coming-of-age drama, inspired by the Addams Family, has been one of Netflix’s most successful titles since its debut in November 2022. The series stars Jenna Ortega as Wednesday Addams, a sharp-witted and enigmatic teenager navigating life at Nevermore Academy while confronting mysteries tied to her family’s past.

A global phenomenon

Since launch, Wednesday has attracted millions of viewers worldwide and became one of the platform’s most-watched series within its first 90 days. Its combination of supernatural intrigue, dark humour and Ortega’s acclaimed performance has cemented its position as a cultural phenomenon, spawning viral moments such as Ortega’s dance scene in the first season.

The second season, released in two parts across August and September 2025, deepened the show’s mythology and ended with major revelations that left fans speculating about the future of its characters.

Season 3 confirmed

In August 2025, Netflix announced the renewal of the series for a third season, reassuring fans eager for answers after the cliffhanger finale. While details of the plot remain under wraps, the streamer has promised another chapter of mystery, suspense and the darkly comic tone that made the show a breakout hit.

Filming and release dates for Season 3 have not yet been disclosed. Industry analysts suggest production could begin in 2026, depending on cast schedules and ongoing commitments. Ortega, who has balanced the role alongside film projects such as Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, is expected to reprise her role.

Anticipation builds

The confirmation comes as speculation about the show’s future reached fever pitch on social media, with fans debating theories and sharing predictions.

For Netflix, the decision to renew Wednesday underscores its reliance on flagship franchises to sustain global audiences amid fierce competition in the streaming industry.

Until production details are revealed, viewers will be left waiting for Wednesday Addams’ next chapter — one that promises to blend gothic fantasy, family intrigue and teenage rebellion in the series’ signature style.
