NTT DATA, a global leader in digital business and IT services, has officially joined the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD), reinforcing its commitment to advancing global sustainability through digital innovation.

As part of the WBCSD, NTT DATA will contribute to several critical initiatives focused on climate action, ecosystem protection, and circular economy practices. The move marks a significant step in the company’s mission to align responsible innovation with business growth and environmental stewardship.

Accelerating Climate and Nature Action

Within the Climate Action Working Group, NTT DATA will help develop and scale solutions aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions and building climate resilience. Leveraging its expertise in AI, data analytics, and digital engineering, the company aims to assist fellow WBCSD members in transitioning toward net-zero emissions with greater transparency and speed.

In the Nature Action Working Group, NTT DATA plans to support efforts to protect natural ecosystems, promote sustainable resource management, and foster biodiversity. The company will bring its technological acumen to design tools that empower businesses to measure and mitigate their environmental impact.

NTT DATA will also participate in the Circularity Product and Material Working Group, helping shape the Global Circularity Protocol and promote circular design and material use across global supply chains. The company will champion circular economy principles, focusing on product longevity, resource efficiency, and closed-loop systems.

A Global Commitment to Responsible Innovation

“We are pleased to join WBCSD, aligning with our mission to accelerate client success and positively impact society through responsible innovation,” said Yutaka Sasaki, President and CEO of NTT DATA. “Technology and data play a pivotal role in building a more sustainable and inclusive future. By applying our expertise in IT services and digital innovation, we will pursue quality growth that creates long-term value for clients, society, and the environment.”

With a presence in over 50 countries and a team of more than 400 sustainability professionals across 23 nations, NTT DATA brings over 15 years of sustainability experience to the WBCSD network. The company has delivered 1,500+ sustainability projects across ten industries, supporting global efforts to enhance environmental performance and corporate responsibility.

Welcoming a Tech Leader into the Fold

Joe Phelan, Executive Director for Asia Pacific at WBCSD, welcomed the collaboration:

“We are delighted to welcome NTT DATA to WBCSD. Their leadership in technology and sustainability aligns with our mission to drive systems transformation for a net-zero, nature-positive and equitable future. We look forward to their contributions across climate, nature and circularity, and to the collaboration ahead as we focus on action, impact and creating business value.”

With this partnership, NTT DATA is set to play a key role in shaping sustainable business practices on a global scale, using technology as a force for environmental and societal good.
