Oman Air, the national airline of the Sultanate of Oman, is celebrating 30 years of continuous operations between Muscat and Mumbai, marking a major milestone in the airline’s deepening ties with India.
Introduced in 1993 as the second Indian destination after Thiruvananthapuram, Mumbai has grown into a cornerstone of Oman Air’s network, now served with 12 flights per week. The route has become a vital link supporting commerce, tourism, and cultural exchange between the two nations.
Today, Oman Air operates a total of 168 flights per week between Muscat and 10 Indian cities, including Delhi, Lucknow, Chennai, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Thiruvananthapuram, Kochi, Calicut, Goa, and Mumbai.
“This anniversary is more than a celebration of flights, it’s a celebration of friendship and trust,” said Sunil V.A., Regional Vice President for the Indian Subcontinent at Oman Air. “India has always been one of our most important markets, and Mumbai holds a special place in our network. As we continue to evolve as a premium global carrier and a proud oneworld member, we remain committed to elevating our relationship with India.”
The milestone coincides with Oman Air’s entry into the oneworld® alliance, a strategic move that gives the airline and its passengers access to over 900 destinations worldwide. For Indian travellers, the alliance brings improved global connectivity, reciprocal frequent flyer benefits, and smoother international travel experiences.
Over the past three decades, Oman Air has built a reputation for its blend of authentic Omani hospitality and award-winning service. The airline was recently honoured at the APEX 2025 Awards, winning Best Food & Beverage and Best Cabin Service in the Middle East, reinforcing its guest-first approach.
With the Indian aviation market poised for continued growth and Oman’s geographic advantage as a gateway between Asia, the Middle East, and Europe, Oman Air’s investment in its Indian network reflects a long-term vision. The airline not only supports diaspora communities and business travellers but also plays a key role in boosting tourism between Oman and India.
As Oman Air celebrates this landmark anniversary, it looks ahead with a renewed focus on innovation, service excellence, and international partnerships—positioning itself as a bridge between tradition and modern global connectivity.
