A new exhibition in Bahrain aims to merge art and literature while raising funds for student scholarships. The “Reesha W Qalam” exhibition, running from 8 to 18 October 2025 in Riffa, is being held under the patronage of Her Excellency Sheikha Dwa bint Khalid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Member of the National Arts Council and Chairman of the Lamea Association.

The event is organised by Amna Creative and hosted at the new premises of AlMabarrah AlKhalifia Foundation. It is sponsored by MKF Connect in partnership with Al-Bilad Newspaper, which will also serve as its media partner.

Blending words and images

“Reesha W Qalam,” which translates as “Feather and Pen,” will feature works by Bahraini artists inspired by the writings of six leading national authors. The concept brings together two creative disciplines, creating a dialogue between visual expression and literary imagination.

Alongside the exhibition, visitors will be able to attend panel discussions, literary readings and creative workshops designed for a wide audience, including young people. Organisers say the programme is intended to highlight Bahrain’s artistic and cultural diversity while encouraging interaction between established figures and emerging talent.

Supporting education through art

The initiative carries a philanthropic dimension. Proceeds from the exhibition will go to AlMabarrah AlKhalifia Foundation’s “Rayaat” programme, which provides scholarships and academic support for Bahraini students.

Ms. Saba Yousif Seyadi, Chief Executive Officer of the Foundation, welcomed the initiative, describing it as a significant step in linking culture with education.

“Such initiatives reflect the value of art and culture as effective tools in serving education and society,” she said. “The ‘Reesha W Qalam’ exhibition takes on a humanitarian dimension, as its proceeds will support scholarships through our ‘Rayaat’ programme, empowering Bahraini students in their academic journeys.”

Media and cultural collaboration

The exhibition also highlights the role of national institutions in supporting cultural identity. Al-Bilad Media Corporation has joined as a sponsor and media partner, continuing its tradition of engagement with social and cultural initiatives.

Ms. Dalila Arnaout, Acting Chief Executive Officer of Al-Bilad, said: “Al-Bilad has always been committed to supporting national initiatives that contribute to enhancing cultural identity and encouraging youth creativity. This partnership reflects our ongoing social responsibility towards the cultural and educational sectors.”

A growing cultural platform

With its blend of art, literature and community engagement, “Reesha W Qalam” is positioned as more than a conventional exhibition. Organisers hope it will become a recurring platform for Bahraini talent, strengthening ties between cultural production and social development.

By bringing together artists, writers, media organisations and educational charities, the exhibition underscores Bahrain’s growing emphasis on cultural initiatives that serve broader social goals.
