Salesforce has launched Agentforce for Public Sector, a new AI-powered platform designed to help government agencies improve responsiveness, productivity and efficiency amid growing public demands and staffing shortages.
The service introduces digital labour in the form of intelligent AI agents that can autonomously handle complex, time-consuming tasks while operating within strict regulatory guardrails. The company says this will allow government employees to focus on mission-critical work, while citizens benefit from faster and more cost-effective services.
“Agentforce for Public Sector makes this future possible by integrating trusted, secure AI into the fabric of government operations,” said Nasi Jazayeri, Executive Vice President and General Manager of Public Sector at Salesforce. “With AI agents working alongside government workers and providing 24/7 support for constituents, Agentforce will power a more responsive, agile and effective government.”
The company emphasises that security and compliance are at the core of the system. It meets global standards including FedRAMP High, Protected-B, and IRAP, and incorporates Salesforce’s Trust Layer for privacy safeguards such as dynamic grounding, zero data retention and toxicity detection.
How it works
Built on Salesforce’s Public Sector Solutions, Agentforce enables agencies to deploy custom or pre-built AI agents in weeks rather than months. The platform draws on data from Salesforce’s Data Cloud, integrating information from emails, images, PDFs, legacy systems and data lakes to give agents a complete view for decision-making.
Its “Atlas Reasoning Engine” processes complex data, using ensemble retrieval augmented generation (RAG) techniques to find specific, accurate information. The system includes an Agent Builder that allows non-technical teams to tailor agents using natural language prompts, while also connecting to existing Salesforce logic, APIs and workflows.
What it can do
Salesforce has released several ready-made functions tailored for the public sector. These include:
- Compliance Management: Assisting inspectors by flagging potential violations, calculating fees, and drafting follow-up documentation.
- Complaint Management: Summarising constituent complaints, identifying related issues and recommending next steps.
- Recruitment Management: Speeding up hiring through AI-powered CV matching, candidate engagement and automated communications.
- Job Matching: Recommending suitable job opportunities to applicants based on their profiles.
- Benefits Applications: Guiding citizens through eligibility checks and application processes in multiple languages.
- Complaint Filing: Helping the public access accurate policy information and file complaints correctly.
According to Salesforce, 90% of citizens are open to AI-powered public services, while 64% of government leaders expect significant cost savings. However, concerns about data privacy and security have slowed adoption — something the company believes Agentforce addresses directly.
Regional focus
Mohammed Alkhotani, Salesforce’s Senior Vice President and General Manager for the Middle East, said the launch presented “an exciting opportunity in the GCC and the wider Middle East, where governments have set ambitious targets and strategies to diversify their economies, drive efficiency, and deliver the best possible services.”
Partnerships and availability
Agentforce for Public Sector runs securely on Amazon Web Services (AWS), with the product now listed on the AWS Marketplace. Salesforce partners, including IBM Consulting, will support agencies in rolling out the service and scaling their AI use.
The service is available immediately, with additional features such as job recommendations and benefits support due for release in October 2025.
