Samsung Electronics Levant has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the University of Jordan, marking a strategic step to enhance higher education through technology integration and practical learning.

The agreement was formalised by Jongho Kang, President of Samsung Electronics Levant, and Dr. Nathir Obeidat, President of the University of Jordan, in a ceremony attended by senior officials from both institutions.

This partnership aims to bridge the gap between theoretical education and hands-on technological experience, ensuring university graduates are better equipped to meet the demands of a fast-evolving digital job market. The collaboration reflects Samsung’s long-term commitment to sustainable investment in education and its regional vision of empowering youth and fostering a knowledge-based economy.

One of the first steps under this MoU will be the revitalisation of the Samsung Lab at the King Abdullah II School of Information Technology (KASIT). The project will see the renovation of the reading area and creation of an advanced, innovation-driven learning space aligned with current technological trends.

“Through this partnership, we aim to enrich the learning environment with real-world technology experiences,” said Jongho Kang. “It’s a strategic investment in Jordan’s next generation of innovators and digital professionals.”

Samsung will also play a role in supporting the University’s upcoming 60th graduation ceremony, providing high-resolution display screens, advanced audio systems, and logistical support to elevate the student celebration experience.

As part of the agreement, a Samsung Experience Shop and service centre will be established on campus. These facilities are intended to blur the lines between academic theory and practical application, giving students hands-on interaction with Samsung’s latest consumer technologies.

Dr. Nathir Obeidat, President of the University of Jordan, emphasized the importance of industry-academia collaborations.

“This partnership is a significant milestone for our institution. It will not only enhance the quality of education but also contribute to building a generation of tech-savvy professionals who are prepared to shape the future.”

In addition, Samsung and the University will cooperate on research initiatives, including joint research teams, workshops, seminars, and conferences focusing on innovation and technology. Through this collaboration, students will gain exposure to real-world challenges while advancing scientific exploration.

Samsung also plans to roll out its Enhanced Partnership Program (EPP), offering exclusive product discounts to students and faculty, further reinforcing the company’s commitment to broadening access to technology.

The MoU represents a forward-looking alliance that blends academic excellence with corporate innovation, positioning the University of Jordan as a regional hub for next-generation digital education and reaffirming Samsung’s role in shaping educational ecosystems across the Middle East.
