SBC Medical Group Holdings, a global provider of consulting and management services for medical corporations and clinics, has announced the appointment of Dr Ewen Chee as President of Aesthetic Healthcare Holdings (AHH) and Lead Doctor for Asia Strategy.

The Singapore-based physician, widely regarded as a pioneer in the country’s aesthetic medicine sector, will oversee physician recruitment and training across the Asia-Pacific region. His new role is expected to enhance SBC’s efforts in strengthening its global strategy for the fast-growing industry.

Founded in 1999, Dr Chee’s Chelsea Clinic was among the first in Singapore to introduce IPL treatments, a move that helped establish the city-state’s reputation as a hub for medical aesthetics. Over two decades, he has trained practitioners internationally in fillers, botulinum toxin, lasers, and thread lifts. He has also co-chaired the Asia-Pacific Thread Lift Meeting and frequently speaks at international conferences.

Singapore’s reputation as a trusted destination for aesthetic medicine is supported by its robust medical infrastructure, strict regulatory standards, and strategic location. The city has become a magnet for medical tourists from neighbouring countries such as Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand and Vietnam, further cementing its status as the “Aesthetic Medicine Hub of Asia.”

In his new role, Dr Chee is set to build a scalable platform for training and recruitment under the AHH portfolio, creating opportunities for knowledge transfer and professional development across the region. His appointment aligns with SBC Medical’s wider mission of “contributing to the happiness of people worldwide through medical innovation.”

The company said the move is designed to support sustainable growth and expand its leadership in the global aesthetic medicine market. By integrating Dr Chee’s expertise with its existing portfolio, SBC aims to strengthen its physician network and accelerate its strategy for the Asia-Pacific region.

Industry analysts note that the appointment reflects the increasing demand for advanced aesthetic treatments in Asia, a market experiencing strong year-on-year growth due to rising incomes, ageing populations, and medical tourism. SBC Medical’s emphasis on physician training and recruitment is seen as a way to ensure standards keep pace with rapid expansion.

Eric Tan, an industry consultant in Singapore, said the appointment would likely reinforce the city’s position in the sector. “Dr Chee has been at the forefront of aesthetic medicine for decades. His involvement at a regional level could reshape training standards and create a more unified approach across Asia,” he told reporters.

SBC Medical Group said it remains committed to investing in local expertise and international collaborations as part of its long-term vision to expand its presence globally.
