Colombian superstar Shakira has delighted fans by posting a clip of rising artist Saint Levant performing a remix of her 2005 global hit Hips Don’t Lie. The short video, shared on her Instagram story, captured the rapper-singer delivering his own version of the track with infectious energy. Shakira’s playful caption — “I want to be in that party” — quickly caught attention across social media platforms.

The moment has sparked widespread excitement among followers of both artists, with many speculating about a possible collaboration. Fans described the post as a recognition of Saint Levant’s growing influence in the international music scene.

A rising star with global roots

Saint Levant, born Marwan Abdelhamid in Jerusalem, is one of the fastest-emerging names in contemporary music. The 23-year-old artist has a diverse heritage — his mother is French-Algerian, while his father is Palestinian-Serbian. He spent part of his childhood in Gaza before moving to Jordan and later Los Angeles, experiences which he says shaped his artistic outlook.

His music blends English, Arabic and French, creating a multilingual sound that resonates with audiences across regions. Levant first gained traction in 2020 after uploading songs online. His breakout came in 2022 with Very Few Friends, which amassed tens of millions of streams and established him as an international act.

Since then, he has toured extensively across Europe and the Middle East, often performing alongside major names. He is known for weaving personal identity and heritage into his lyrics, combining themes of love, belonging and desire with a cross-cultural musical style.

The remix moment

The video Shakira shared was not the first time Saint Levant performed his take on Hips Don’t Lie. In July 2023, during a concert in La Rochelle, France, he surprised the audience with a remix of the iconic song. Clips from that performance circulated widely online, drawing praise for his ability to reimagine one of pop’s most recognisable hits.

By reposting the performance herself, Shakira has effectively endorsed his creative approach. For many of her followers, the gesture reflects her openness to new interpretations of her music and her interest in emerging talent.

Fan speculation

The post has quickly led to speculation about whether the two might collaborate. On social media, fans imagined what a fusion of Shakira’s Latin rhythms and Saint Levant’s East-West blend could sound like. While there has been no official announcement, the buzz reflects how social media moments can fuel anticipation in today’s music industry.

For Saint Levant, the recognition marks another milestone in his rapid rise. For Shakira, it highlights her continued ability to shape cultural conversations nearly two decades after the original release of Hips Don’t Lie.

Whether or not a collaboration follows, the exchange has already generated global attention — underlining the power of music to connect artists and audiences across languages, genres and borders.
