Sharjah Islamic Bank (SIB) has been awarded the Sharjah Excellence Award (SEA) in the Sharjah Gulf Excellence category for 2024, a major recognition from the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The accolade affirms the bank’s role as a trailblazer in the UAE’s banking landscape, highlighting its institutional innovation, sustainable business model, and strategic growth across the region.

This prestigious recognition comes on the heels of another major milestone for the bank—its inclusion in Forbes Middle East’s “Top 100 Companies in the Middle East for 2024”, reinforcing SIB’s standing as a financial institution with consistent and impactful performance.

Commenting on the achievement, HE Mohamed Abdalla, CEO of Sharjah Islamic Bank, attributed the bank’s vision and success to the guidance of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the UAE Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah.

“We draw inspiration for all our initiatives and strategic directions from the wise vision of His Highness, which drives us toward excellence and leadership,” Abdalla said.

He emphasised the bank’s commitment to playing a vital role in the local and regional economy, stating,

“We support investments in vital sectors and work to enhance the competitiveness of the national economy, helping to establish Sharjah as a leading hub for business and innovation.”

The award also acknowledges SIB’s broader contributions to economic development, including empowering entrepreneurs, supporting SMEs, and fostering regional partnerships aimed at promoting sustainable development. Abdalla noted that these efforts are in line with the UAE’s long-term vision for financial innovation and economic diversification.

“We are committed to a renewed banking model that meets the evolving aspirations of society and aligns with national and Gulf-level economic goals,” he added.

SIB’s recent accomplishments have further solidified its reputation as a forward-looking, innovation-driven financial institution. The bank continues to make strategic investments in advanced financial technologies, sustainability-driven services, and corporate social responsibility initiatives, contributing to the UAE’s status as a global leader in financial excellence.

The Sharjah Excellence Award, established in 1990, is one of the region’s most respected institutional awards. Administered by the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the award aims to foster a culture of quality, excellence, and competitive best practices among organizations operating across the Gulf.

SIB’s win in the Sharjah Gulf Excellence category places it among a select group of institutions recognized for their strategic impact, operational innovation, and community-driven leadership. The bank continues to expand its influence not only in Sharjah and the UAE but also across the broader Gulf and global banking sectors.

With this recognition, Sharjah Islamic Bank reaffirms its place as a key player in shaping the region’s financial future, providing inclusive, Sharia-compliant banking solutions that meet both the ambitions of governments and the needs of individuals and businesses alike.
