Retail giant Union Coop has officially expanded to 30 branches across Dubai, underscoring its commitment to smart retail, community welfare, and the UAE’s national economy.

The milestone reinforces Union Coop’s long-standing role as a leader in sustainable retail innovation, offering high-quality, locally sourced products while making shopping more accessible and inclusive for all members of society.

Speaking about the expansion, CEO Mohamed Al Hashemi said the achievement reflects the organisation’s core vision: “Our growth is guided by a focus on quality, sustainability, and digital transformation. We are not just opening more branches — we are deepening our service to the community.”

Smart Retail and Sustainability at the Core

Each of the 30 Union Coop branches now integrates advanced smart retail technologies, designed to enhance efficiency and improve the customer experience. These features include self-checkout counters, AI-driven inventory systems, and digital kiosks for a seamless and interactive shopping journey.

Importantly, the stores are equipped with inclusive infrastructure, ensuring accessibility for People of Determination and senior citizens, aligning with the UAE’s broader social inclusion initiatives.

Supporting the Local Economy

Union Coop continues to lead in local sourcing, offering more than 6,000 locally produced items across its stores. These include fresh fruits and vegetables from 25 Emirati farms, as well as locally sourced fish and meat, helping boost national agricultural and fisheries sectors.

By maintaining robust partnerships with Emirati farmers, fishermen, and suppliers, Union Coop is directly contributing to the UAE’s food security strategy, while ensuring shoppers have access to fresh, homegrown produce.

Al Hashemi highlighted that this approach is not just about product availability, but about economic empowerment. “Every new branch means more jobs, more demand for local goods, and more opportunities for small and medium Emirati businesses,” he said.

Innovation Meets Community Values

Union Coop’s evolution has been marked by a steady integration of digital innovation with community service. From sustainable store designs to eco-friendly packaging and cashless payment systems, the retailer aims to reduce its environmental footprint while embracing future-ready solutions.

Despite its technological focus, the organisation maintains a deep connection to its social responsibility mission, regularly organising community outreach programmes, supporting education initiatives, and promoting healthy lifestyles.

Looking Ahead

With 30 operational branches and more planned for the future, Union Coop is set to remain a key pillar in Dubai’s retail and socio-economic landscape. The continued expansion reinforces the company’s ambition to blend tradition with innovation, commerce with conscience, and scale with sustainability.

As Al Hashemi concluded: “Union Coop is more than a retailer. We are a movement towards a smarter, more self-reliant, and inclusive future for the UAE.”
