120,000 traffic violations

The recent crackdown on dangerous driving has resulted in a total of 120,902 traffic violations in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and the Western Region in the first quarter of 2010, according to Abu Dhabi’s traffic department. Seatbelt offences have made the top of the list at just over 13,000, followed by 8,798 violations for non observation of traffic signs. 4,700 motorists were caught using mobile phones while driving and 2,845 violations were reported for excessive speeding.
