Ennio Marchetto – the award-winning international comedian dubbed The Living Cartoon – is on his way to bring a touch of humour to Gourmet Abu Dhabi – the 16-day culinary festival, which runs across 20 host venues from 8th to 23rd February.

The Italian transformational artist will make his Abu Dhabi debut at a special themed event at the Crowne Plaza Abu Dhabi Yas Island on 9th February when his brand of humour will be accompanied by exquisite culinary creations from one Michelin-starred Chef William Ledeuil.

“It will be a night to remember in the company of two multi-award-winning professionals who have each revolutionised their particular arts,” said Noura Al Dhaheri of Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority’s (ADTA) Product Development Division.

Ennio Marchetto has revolutionised the art of origami into theatrical magic. Backed by an eclectic soundtrack, he uses his dynamic, physical comedy and ingenious costumes to magically morph into parodies of superstars and historic characters. A winner of the Cannes Best Show and Golden Lion Venice Entertainment Festival awards, Marchetto has performed in 70 countries with Associated Press dubbing him “hysterical” and “addictive”.

“My act will have cross-nationality appeal as my songs are in English but the act is mainly a visual spectacular where speech is not required,” said the Italian who claims to “love all food” and has a penchant for gardening.

While savouring the antics of Marchetto, guests at the special themed dinner, will also relish the innovative cuisine of Chef William Ledeuil who focuses his creations on “colours, freshness and flavours”.

“With a cuisine which is highly influenced by his travels in Asia, Chef Ledeuil is noted for his uncommonly open mind and limitless curiosity,” explained Al Dhaheri. “His partnering with Marchetto should produce an intriguing mix of the unusual and unforgettable.”
