Bringing the Factory era to Abu Dhabi
Party-goers and night-owls are spoilt for choice in Abu Dhabi, but where can you go if you want a break from R’n’B and Hip Hop grooves?
Recession, the brainchild of Darrell Jacques and Jonathan Bradford (collectively Decadent Events), has the answer, serving up a fresh new sound on the last Friday of the month at Left Bank.
At 7pm DJ Jono starts to warm up the decks and the crowd with a tribute to the Factory era, spinning anthems from the likes of Joy Division/New Order and Happy Mondays – he also throws in a healthy helping of indie classics, Brit-pop and soft rock to keep everyone on their feet.
From around midnight Andy Williams, of the legendary K-Klass (who had seven top-40 hits during the 90s and played The Haçienda and Ibiza) takes over. With a glorious mix of old school House he brings the Haçienda to Left Bank, speeding up the tempo and keeping the dance floor thumping until the small hours.
Left Bank is the ideal venue for Recession. The dance floor in front of the DJ booth allows great interaction between the DJ and crowd, while those who need a break from busting their moves have plenty of resting space along the back bar and the spacious and comfortable seating dotted around.
Recession attracts a largely British crowd, those familiar with the “Madchester” music scene, but there is something for everyone at this truly unique night out.
